Bed Bug Monitors

Methods for trapping bed bugs fall into two categories: passive (no known infestation) and active (suspected recent infestation). There are a few different types of both passive (Bed Bug Defender, Bed Bug Tape) and active methods (Bug Dome, Bed Bug Disc). Passive bed bug monitors have been evolving in order to catch an infestation at its earliest signs. Traditionally, there have been glue traps, which do not function well to surrounding the legs of furniture. Glue traps also can catch non-target animals including cats, dogs and even humans (especially if they are just waking up). Bug Dome and Bed Bug Defenderô contains no chemicals and is not harmful to non-target animals. To determine an infestation, pest control professionals need to find evidence of live bed bugs. Often if they don't, they cannot apply insecticides. Finding evidence of live bed bugs is also very important when trying to prove there is an active infestation to a property manager or landlord.
